Abstract tattoos use free forms, lines, movement and contrast. They can have no recognisable subject or include individual representational elements. You can choose a personal meaning or enjoy the design for its appearance. At INTO Tattoo Studio, Lenaugasse 8, 1080 Wien, we use your preferences to establish a direction for the design.
Turn a feeling into visible choices
You can make a preference such as “light and flowing” more concrete: delicate lines, few dark areas and plenty of open skin between shapes. “Dense and strong” might mean larger black areas or a closer arrangement. These examples help explain the design without specialist vocabulary.
A cropped image or a sketch of your own can be a starting point. An example you dislike shows what you want to avoid. The useful question is which visible qualities you would enjoy wearing.
Body shape and open space
A longer composition can connect several body areas. The direction and arrangement of forms shape how it looks from different angles. Negative space means untattooed skin within or between shapes; it is part of the composition.
Existing tattoos and possible future additions belong in the planning. A new design may connect to older work when the actual area and both compositions allow it.

No. The method depends on the artist and project. Discuss how the drawing is developed and how changes are agreed.
Can it connect to an existing tattoo?
We assess the whole area. The shape of the older tattoo and your desired connection determine the options. A connection cannot be promised without considering the actual pieces.

How can I explain an abstract idea when I cannot find the right words?

A word such as “calm” can describe very different images. I work with you to turn it into visible choices: low contrast, a consistent direction or larger open areas. A cropped image that shows one quality can be enough. That turns a feeling into a clear starting point for the drawing.
How much creative freedom should I leave for an abstract tattoo?
I would separate fixed preferences from open choices. You might want delicate lines in a certain placement while leaving their exact direction open. The task stays clear: preserve those qualities and develop the arrangement within that framework. You can guide the design without deciding every line yourself.

How much does an abstract tattoo cost?
Our price guide includes nonbinding ranges of €300–900 for medium compositions and €650–1,900 for large, elaborate pieces. Smaller projects are assessed according to their scope. These are not Abstract tariffs. Area, linework, shading, design development and artist determine the individual estimate.
